"Sociology for Social Justice: The revolutionary potential of Social Science"
The talk will brief and examine the role of revolutionary praxis and pedagogy for developing a contemporary radical movement where sociology is a tool for struggle and not a disciplinary or professional goal in and of itself.
Corey Dolgon is a Professor of Sociology at Stonehill College in Brockton, Massachusetts. He is Past President of the Society for the Study of Social Problems [SSSP] and the Association for Humanits Sociology. he is also the award winning author of 5 books including The End of the Hamptons; Scenes from the Class Struggle in America's Paradise (NYU Press 2005) and Kill It to Save It: An Autopsy of Capitalism's Triumph over Democracy (Policy Press, 2015). He is completing The Handbook of Sociology for Social Justice (Oxford University Press 2023). Dolgon is also a folksinger and organizer and has been doing "singing lectures" on folksongs and social movements for over 25 years.
