Bio

Stephanie Ossovski Richter is a doctoral student at the Department of Sociology who holds a bachelor's degree in law from the State of Northern Paraná University, Brazil, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Corporate Advocacy. Her past work experience was at the Public Ministry of the State of Paraná where she worked at the District Attorney’s Office dealing with Youth Crime, Domestic Violence, and other criminal matters. Her goal is to study Sociology with a focus on Criminology.

Stephanie is interested in Deviant Behavior in Juveniles, a current social problem that Brazil faces, especially in poor communities where children have incarcerated parents and lack familiar structure and guidance. She believes that analyzing the deviances in this stage of life and its social reasons would help to decrease criminality itself.

Her research interests also include policies that combat violence against women, incarceration, anti-gang legislation, and legal responses to gangs.
